Garden Tour | Nelson Thomas Landscape Architects
The clients of this project, located in Sydney's Pymble—a heritage conservation area—sought a botanical approach to the planting that would allow them to engage with the gardens from various aspects of their home. Nelson Thomas crafted a planting palette that is generous, complex, and unexpected, thoughtfully complementing the architecture while respecting view lines from both inside and out.
This garden features multiple distinct spaces, including the front entrance, the Opuntia atrium, the pool and entertaining areas, and the bedroom atrium. The brief emphasised creating a liveable garden without hedges, designed for hosting and enjoying family time together.
"We are conscious that nature is a source of replenishment, connection, and belonging. Our clients know this on a visceral level and they invest in it. We have a passion for this land and the challenges and rewards it offers. Each brief is as unique as the client, and each site visit and conversation is a discovery process." — Julia Levitt, Director
