Adore Home Magazine is an Australian-based interiors magazine that celebrates stunning, vibrant, and contemporary homes and spaces. Led by the talented Loni Parker, Adore's Editor, the magazine showcases her passion for design. Loni has recently renovated two of her own homes (and used our pots, of course!). Best gardening or styling tip?
Plan your landscaping before picking up a shovel. I like to map everything out as a top-view first, including measurements, to get a clear idea of how to attack the space.
What does a typical day at work involve for you?
I work from a studio space in my backyard, so it’s a lovely 10-second commute from home! A typical day would see me on the computer for about 8 hours daily. I spend a lot of time emailing, sourcing content and designing Adore magazine and blog. As a small business owner, I wear all the hats, from accountant to sales to design. It keeps each day interesting with the variety of work that I do.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
Palm Springs! I’ve been three times already. Whenever I go back, it feels strangely like home. I could definitely see myself moving there one day. Everything about Palm Springs inspires me, from the architecture, the gardens, the people, the shops - it’s just a beautiful place to be.
What's one thing you couldn't live without?
My computer! I’m a bit of a workaholic, so I’d be lost without it.
How do you stay inspired and keep your creativity flowing in your work?
I like having little breaks between my work days - getting out in the garden always invigorates me. It feels good to be outside, even if it’s just pulling weeds out of the garden or mowing. I also find travel to be very inspiring. I’ll always find something whilst being away that inspires my creativity - whether that’s for work or for a renovation project on the go.
Queensland or Brisbane's best-kept secret?
Moreton Island. I had never been until recently (last year) and was blown away that this island is only about 90 minutes away from Brisbane yet had crystal clear water reminiscent of the Whitsundays. And it was pretty special witnessing the wild dolphins that come in each night for a free feed.
