Botanica Lane’s Top Plant Picks and Spring Gardening Advice
Botanica Lane started as a small, family-owned business and has grown into a trusted name in the gardening community. Their team of landscape architects and horticulturists brings extensive plant knowledge, making it easy for customers to find the perfect plants for their homes and gardens. As an exclusive stockist of pots from The Balcony Garden, they also offer a curated selection of stylish pots that complement any plant collection.
Botanica Lane has something for everyone, whether you're looking to add a touch of greenery to your interior design or searching for a statement plant to elevate your outdoor space.
As we look forward to the warmer weather, we spoke with the knowledgeable team at Botanica Lane to gather their expert recommendations for refreshing both indoor and outdoor spaces. Here’s what they had to say:
What are the top three plants you recommend for refreshing a garden or indoor space?
-
Rhipsalis: One of our favourite indoor species right now is rhipsalis (the longer, the better). They are just so unique and instantly transform a space. There’s nothing quite like them, and that’s so refreshing!
-
Ligularia (Tractor Seat Plant): These can be hard to find, but they are so worth the hunt! The large round foliage looks great and brings that tropical vibe without being too wild. We stock them all year round, and they are definitely a customer favourite.
-
Olive Tree: You can’t beat an olive tree, especially paired with a white pot! They fit into any garden aesthetic and are a great small tree that instantly elevates a space. If you're over the olive, a great native alternative is the Banksia integrifolia, offering the same beautiful muted tones, flashes of silver, and an open canopy.
Are there any special tips for preparing a garden for the warmer weather?
Soil is always our first recommendation! Good quality soil tailored to your chosen plants is the foundation for a thriving garden and ecosystem. Good quality soil looks different for every plant, so preparing your soil accordingly is the key!
What are the latest trends in indoor plants?
I think people are moving away from the jungle interior and towards a more minimal style. They are selecting plants with the intention to curate their space compared to filling their homes with an abundance of greenery. Also, after COVID, a lot of people became more aware of indoor plants and are perhaps looking for more unique species that better suit their personal style.
How do you select the plants you stock at Botanica Lane, and what makes your selection unique?
Myself and the team love to hand-pick our plants when we can. That’s one of our favourite parts of running Botanica Lane: finding specimens that our customers will love while also supporting our local Sydney growers.
Everyone on our team has such unique styles, and our plant selection reflects that! The plants you see in store, we probably grow in our own homes. We always want to stock plants that we actually love in our own spaces, which results in the shop becoming an extension of our homes and individual personal styles.
