Eclectic Creative, founded by Creative Director Jessica Viscarde in 2013, is a design and decoration studio that specialises in residential and boutique commercial projects. With a background in Industrial, Graphic and Interior Design, Jessica offers a range of design services and creates eclectic and layered looks that blend vintage pieces with a contemporary design.
Jessica takes a collaborative approach with her clients which is reflected in her overall design process which she described as hands-on and collaborative. “I enjoy getting to know my clients and their own unique story as I like to use what I learn as inspiration for the project, so I create a personalised and welcoming space for the occupants. I like to guide rather than dictate any designs, and really enjoy curating sentimental pieces of my clients into the new design. I love blending the old with the new and creating unexpected looks.”
This collaborative approach allows Jessica to take her clients on what she classifies as a ‘journey of inspiration.’ She further explained, “I’m all about the journey and the process – and believe it’s just as important as the end result. I like to take my clients on a creative journey with me, sharing my ideas, thoughts and introducing them to things they may not have considered.”
At Eclectic Creative their motto is ‘You’re not like everyone else. Your home shouldn’t be either’. So, it was no surprise to us what Jessica’s response was when we asked her what her favourite design trends were. “I don’t do trends and wholeheartedly believe you should rock your own style! I love how Australian’s are becoming a little more open to the idea of using colour in their homes, and on their walls! Life is too short to live in a white box!”
When Jessica is not at work you will find her gardening as she a serious green thumb! She spends most of her spare time caring for her countless amount of indoor and outdoor plants. “Sunday’s are my watering days and I’m forever moving indoor plants – outdoors, watering them, dusting them, ensuring they’re getting enough love! it’s very therapeutic caring for plants and watching them flourish!”
Her green thumb is not just evident in her own home but also in her designs. We had the pleasure of having our Loob pots featured in her project at Stumpy Gully Winery. “Stumpy Gully is a family owned and run Australian business in the Mornington Peninsula and I was engaged to help them with the complete interior overhaul of the Restaurant, Barrel Room and Cellar Door. We worked closely and collaboratively on concepts and ideas that breathed new life into the interior but also paid homage to the family history, maintaining the integrity and charm. A sophisticated moodier and somewhat cocooning concept was delivered using deep, rich olive greens, polished concrete, textured wallpapers, tan leathers and walnut timber. We wanted to help bring the outdoors in and reflect the green of the landscape and vineyard and for patrons to feel relaxed and welcomed.”
